GLPCNA Approved Kennels

Before a German Longhaired Pointer Kennel can be recognized and approved by the German Longhaired Pointer Club of North America, the kennel must do several things.  First, the kennel's owner needs to read the GLPCNA bylaws and sign a contract promising to adhere to our breeding standards.  These breeding standards include things such as only breeding longhairs that have successfully passed required hunting tests.  Each breeding dog used at these kennels has had its type, conformation, coat, and temperament certified by the GLPCNA.  Each of the kennel's breeding dogs must also have at least "Good" or "B" hips as certified by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) or the Berlin Hips Association.

Each kennel must also make a one-time contribution to the GLPCNA in the amount of the sale price of one puppy from their first litter.  This contribution shows their support of the breed and provides much-needed operating funds for the GLPCNA.  Kennels approved by the GLPCNA are also required to register their litters with the GLPCNA.  This means that when you purchase you new German Longhaired Pointer puppy from our approved kennels, you will not have to worry about registering the puppy with the GLPCNA as the breeder will take care of that for you.

Finally, the GLPCNA recognizes the importance of hunters in managing our nations' wildlife and the importance of keeping our dogs out in the field as hunters.  Therefore, all approved kennels are strongly encouraged to donate one puppy from each litter to a new or youth hunter.  The hope for this program is to keep the spirit of hunting alive by promoting hunter recruitment and continuing to breed versatile gundogs for the true sportsman.
